With all the awards announced but one, the overall award, contestants anxiously stand with eyes closed, fingers crossed, and hearts racing. Hearing the name called, sighs are exhaled, when suddenly one contestant realizes that was their name. They had just won the 2012 4-H Talent Show.
On Fri., Mar. 16, the Talent Show was held in the auditorium. The show was scheduled to be Fri., Feb. 24, but was rescheduled due to tornado warnings.
There were more than 22 acts in which contestants performed a variety of talents. These included dance, singing, rap, and instrumental. The talent show was hosted by seniors Dax Ellison and Andrew Pettaway who entertained between each performance.
To make the judging process easier and broaden the opportunity for a win, awards were given for each type of act as well as an overall winner. The following people and groups won for their category: senior Doug Davis for rap, Full Effect who performed a dance routine, senior Zivan Holloway for the singing category, and Strong Bow, a band for the instrumental category. Holloway won the overall award as well.
Holloway was not expecting the win, but was elated when he received it.
“I was excited,” Holloway said. “I didn’t expect to win overall and didn’t even think I would win.”
With the goal of the show being the chance for students to perform in front of their peers and showcase their talents, the talent show was successful.
For Holloway, winning was nice, but the experience was even better.
“The best part was getting to see everyone perform and being around friends,” Holloway said.
Holloway hopes to continue to sing throughout his life and has already involved himself in singing activities. He sings with the school choir as well as his church group. He has even made his own set of cds.

The article was well thought out and informative. However, it was somewhat lacking in detail. I would have liked to see more about the actual tallent show and its highlights such as great acts, emberassing acts, etc.

I’m a senior and I have been to the talent show all 3 years. It’s amazing how many people have hidden talents. It is great to see this at a talent show. I must add there are some acts that I think shouldn’t be allowed in the show.

I was really disappointed that the talent show was cancelled because I could not attend the rescheduled one. I know all the students were really excited about it and wanted to show off their talents. It was all over Twitter and Facebook. The students did a really good job making sure everyone knew about it.

Although I was unable to attend the talent show, I heard that it was quite the display of talent. I really wanted to go though. The two week delay was disappointing, but at least the show went on. Congratulations to all of the winners.

Very well done, but a little more in depth detail would have been nice; still, we have some really amazing talents right here in little prince george high. It’ll be interesting how our next decade of talent shows will look like and what amazing kids this school will have.

The talent show this year blew me away with all the talent! I knew a couple of my friends would blaze the stage, but I had no clue that I would like just about every act. The mc’s were great, and it was for a good cause. The crowd was actively involved, and I wish our school did more activities like this to unite the classes because at the talent show the seniors mixed with the juniors, who then mixed with the sophomores; all for great singing, dancing, and pure talent.

I personally enjoyed the talent show very much. This article was a good reflection of what happened and the excitement and emotion that went down with it. It provided a break from school desks and lectures and allowed students to come out and express themselves with their talent. I saw some students perform that I never knew had a passion, especially for singing or dancing.

I think this article should have more on the different acts themselves. If someone did not go to this event, I think they would expect there to be information about the acts in it. Other then that, I think it did a good job at exposing how some of the contestants felt.

The 4-H Talent Show is a fun thing to go to, and it brings the students of Prince George together to enjoy the music and dancing that we are all interested in. I went to the talent show last year, but was unable to attend this year. It was the talk of the school for several days, making the article relavent to people, even if they did not attend. I love how the anticipation of the contestants was described because I felt like I was actual waiting for the winner to be announced with them.

This was a good article. I think it would have been cool to talk about a few of the separate performances, but I am glad it talked about what the winner thought. This was a very interesting event to go to, and I think the picture tells it all about the emotion involved.

The Talent Show is a good way to express true talents. The contestants all did a great job. I think that this event is a good way to bring the student body together to have a good time. The article gives good information and recognizes the winners well.

The talent show was great to watch! Everyone was anxiously waiting for it to finally come, after the setback with the storm. I really like that the judges decided to have more than one winner. Everyone that participated did a fantastic job and took a lot of nerve to perform in front of so many people. Congratulations to everyone that was involved and I can’t wait until next years!

It is always fun to go and witness a talent show. One gets awe inspired by viewing the amazing array of talent that gets to be present at these events. It is also a great way to get the school involved in many capacities of after school activities. This looks good in ones future, and gives everyone an opportunity to feel great about them. Also, I was so happy to hear that they rescheduled the talent show instead of just cancelling it. Many school activities are just forgotten about, but the passionate standing of the students made it happen. Although I was unable to attend, I was able to watch one act practice the original night and was very impressed at the professional vibe that they gave in their performance, but you could also tell that they were having fun. This is probably the most important thing they could bring to the table.

I think that the talent show is a great way for PGHS students to show case their special talents. I hope that more and more people decide to join in on the talent show in years to come. I liked the article the imagery in the language was very effective. I do feel that there should of been more information about the talent show and what went on included in the article. I also think that their should of been more interviews done with students who particpated in the talent show and some who attended the show. But I still really liked this article and I hope the talent show continues to happen.

This was a very interesting and informative article, and i loved it!!! I attended the talent show and I could feel the amxious tension flowing throughout the auditorium. I would have liked to hear more about Zivan Holloway’s performance, but it was refreshing to read about his past experience in music. Nice article.

Very good article. I would have liked to of read a little bit more about the talent show however. I did not attend and this article help clear up some of my concerns about the event but i little more detail would have been great. Even still, this was a splendid article.

Congratulations to all who participated in the talented and especially Zivan for winning overall! I personally know and Zivan and his singing talent is certainly superb and all his own. Even better than that he is an amazing person on and off the stage! I was unable to attend the talent show, so I did not know that they awarded winners in each category as well as an overall winner. I think that idea is an excellent one; anything done in the area of arts is hard to judge even if they are in the same category because it is all very subjective to that particular judge. Having that narrowed down gives the artists the opportunity for their talent to shine and not get dismissed simply because a judge is not partial to their area.

Congratulations to all of the winners, especially Holloway! I’m glad that the talent show commenced even after difficulties with tornados and poor weather. While I did not personally have the chance to go, I’m glad that this article and pictures exist so I can catch up with the times rather than stay in the dark.
