On Thursday, March 16th the softball, baseball, boys tennis, girls tennis, girls soccer. and boys soccer were in action to open up the season. All teams were playing their first games of the season.

Softball defeated Highland Springs by the score of 14-0. The offense was paced by Caitlin Abernethy (2 for 3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Brooke Loving (1 for 2, run, 3 RBIs), and Laura Thompson (1 for 1, 2 runs).

Baseball defeated Highland Springs by the score of 9-4 with hits from Tevin Tucker (2 for 4, 2 runs, RBI), Jonathan Walton (2 for 4, 2 runs, 4 RBIs, 2 2Bs) Mike Peterson (2 for 2, 2B) They are now 1-0.

Girls soccer opened their 2017 season with a 8-0 win over Highland Springs. Rachel Hughes and Kayleigh Brooks posted a shutout in goal. Jahaira Gutierrez, Kylie Cargill, Sydney Bartlett and Mariah Ramirez each had a goal. Alexis Harrell, Courtney Smith, Georgia Adair, Sydney Bartlett, Sydney Setchel and Mariah Ramirez each had an assist.

Rounding out the Royals dominating performance was Paola Castro with four goals. Girls soccer will be back in action Tuesday with an away game at Varina. The boys soccer team defeated Highland Springs as well 7-0.

Boys tennis faced Dinwiddie at home and won 9-0 while the girls lost at Dinwiddie 3-6.
