Truth or dare is categorized as a supernatural horror film and is rated PG-13.
The movie starts off with Olivia, played by Lucy Hale, -a fairly popular girl with a great group of friends- refusing to want to go to Mexico for their senior year spring break. Instead, she wanted to go on a mission trip to build houses. After being convinced by her best friend, Markie -played by Violett Beane– Olivia agreed to Mexico.
The trip was fun for the teens up until their last night in Mexico. While sitting at a bar in a club, Olivia encounters a handsome stranger named Carter, played by Landon Liboiron. After talking for the entirety of the night, he has convinced Olivia and her friends to go to an old church by telling them it would be a fun adventure and that it be worth it.
Once arriving to the church, everyone immediately felt unsafe and wanted to leave however Carter broke the unease by offering to play a game: Truth or Dare.
Once everyone had a turn, it was time for Carter to choose. He picked truth and had to reveal the truth about his intentions with Olivia. He eventually responds with “Im okay with a bunch of strangers dying if it means that I get to live.” After his turn he runs out and naturally Olivia follows. He tell her that the game is real: do the dare or you die, tell the truth or you die, refuse to play and you die.
Right after he leaves, Olivia experiences these hallucinations that no one else can see. about seeing and hearing the words “Truth or dare”.
Once they get back home, Olivia was the first to be asked “Truth or dare?” by the demon that later is referred to the name of . One by one, each of the members in the group are asked “Truth or Dare?”. And as Carter said, do the dare or you die, tell the truth or you die, refuse to play and you die. Each of the teens in the friend group all get their turn, only some of them play by the rules.
The ending was shocking and mind bottling. It is one of those movies you will just have to see for yourself.
The fast pacing movie kept my heart racing, palms sweating and mind racing. The movie was one of the best movies I have personally seen and made me jump a couple times. I rate the movie 4.5/5 and would recommend this movie for anyone who is looking for a creepy thriller.
