As the buzzer sounded on Friday, Jan. 12th, the boys basketball game against Thomas Dale was tied at 80.
In overtime Prince George defeated Thomas Dale 86-81. Senior Tevin Tucker led the team with 19 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists and scored the final three points in regulation to give the Royals new life after being down by 17 points at one point.
“We were just kind of out of it and they were just taking advantage of our mistakes. We just kind of tightened up and came back,” Tucker said.
With the game going into overtime, the crowd became energized.
“I feel like the crowd helped us out because they were very loud and once we knew we could come back and show that we had heart I feel like ever since then we just took it and ran with it and we just knew we could win the game,” Tucker said.
Senior Christian Chappell also helped lead the team through the game with 19 points. With the victory over Thomas Dale, Chappell said, “I am looking forward to facing up against Hopewell in this week’s away game.”
“It felt great to go out as a senior knowing I beat Thomas Dale twice this year, so it was very beneficial,” said Tucker.
