The varsity girls soccer team ended the game early last night against the Meadowbrook Monarchs with a score of 8-0.
The first half of the game started and the Royals were not playing up to their normal level of intensity. Despite the slow start, they still had a 4-0 lead by halftime.
“Even though we didn’t play as well as we could have, we still produced a win as an end result and moved one step closer to winning the conference,” senior Willow Hart said.
Senior Sarah Tinker led the team with scoring the first goal and finished with three total goals and one assist. She also earned “Girl of the Game.”
As the game went on the team started to flow better and scored another four goals, forcing the game to conclude before regulation was over.
Freshman Syndey Bartlett and senior Amanda Belcher each added a goal and an assist.
Freshman Mady Degan scored her first goal of the season, and it happened to be her first goal as a varsity player.
“It was a really special moment for both of us went i assisted her first goal because we are really close and I’m glad I got to be apart of it,” Hart said.
Junior Abby Harrell had one goal and two assists as a defensive center midfielder. Hart plays center offensive midfielder and had three assists.
Junior Marley Guidry had the last goal of the game and goalie junior Rachel Hughes had one save.
The Lady Royal are now 5-0 in the conference and 9-1 overall. Their next game is away against Hopewell, Thursday, April 28 at 7 PM.
“When we play Hopewell we are going to be focused on connecting passes, crossing the ball, and making good movement off the ball so we can be prepared for our big games next week,” Hart said.
