Writer Chandler Shirer

Writer Chandler Shirer
By Casey Overton
Sophomore Chandler Shirer, as a young girl, stood crying in her grandmother’s living room one day. There was no death in the family or sickness. It was just an ordinary day except for her grandmother’s new couch.
Shirer has never been one to deal with change well along with bad hair days ( they make her feel “dirty”) and annoying people like any other Sophomore. So what will make Chandler happy? Well any bad day for chandler may be solved with a few hours of swimming, watching a good Redskins game, or listening to some rap or country music for a while.
One place you probably won’t find Shirer feeling good in is school. “I like the socializing part…” said Shirer. “I don’t like the learning.” Even though she doesn’t like school and/or learning, chandler really values getting good grades. “It’ll help me get into a good college,” she says.
It’s good that Shirer values getting good grades because she’s going to need them considering that she wants to go to UVA. She’s also going to need that good education also because airfare to Australia isn’t cheap these days. Yes, she also wants to go to Australia. She has wanted to go ever since she met and Austrailian guy on the way to Spain a few years ago. She plans to explore the country and it’s culture.
Once she has finished her education and travels, she plans on becoming a PE teacher because she likes kids and sports. Shirer is in for a bright, physically fit, and happy future…as long as there are no big changes along the way.
