Before sophomore Adam Blakemore entered the eighth grade, he was a linebacker on a football team and a martial artist.  When his best friend dared him to audition for the school play, Blakemore, being the daredevil that he is, decided to give his friends a good laugh and auditioned.  The next thing he knew, he was on stage singing and dancing to Greased Lightning in the musical production of Grease, where he landed the lead role as Danny.

“I like being the center of attention, so being the lead in a play is fun, but it also means a lot of work,” Blakemore said.

Since then, Blakemore has been in three other plays: Beauty and the Beast, Pippin, and The Sound of Music.

“I remember walking through a door on stage that was really small.  I was supposed to duck when I walked through, but instead I hit my head,” Blakemore said about his most memorable moment.  “I went offstage and my head was bleeding.”

Acting is definitely in the future for Blakemore, and he will be auditioning for the upcoming school production of Romeo and Juliet.

“Theatre hasn’t always been my interest, but once I started it I can’t seem to get enough of it,” Blakemore said.
