Weekly News Briefs for December 9-13, 2013

Volunteer Day

This day was passed through the UN General Assembly Dec. 17, 1985, so that organizations can promote volunteering and community service. This day promotes people to unite on a local, state, and national level to carry out projects and volunteer their time to the common good.

SAD Awareness

Around this time of year, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)  is prevalent during the winter season. Symptoms include weight gain, oversleeping, energy loss, and anxiety. Serotonin and melatonin levels are some causes of this, but also the change time and season. This month is set aside to inform people about this disorder and how to treat it.

Holiday Program Will Be Conducted 

This program will be held in the auditorium on Dec. 17. It will start at 7:00 PM. The choir and band will be performing Christmas songs for this event.

FCA Holds Christmas Assembly

This assembly will be held on Dec. 20 in the auditorium. It will start at 1:00 PM, the beginning of 6th block until school lets out. Students must have a signed permission form to attend this activity.

Club Picture Day

Club Picture Day will take place on Friday, December 13 in the auditorium.  Please check the schedule to see when your clubs are scheduled. You must have the following items to enter the auditorium: -your school ID -your planner -a club pass. It is your responsibility to have these three items. You will not enter the auditorium without them. Please arrive five minutes before your scheduled time. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Art Club

The Art Club will hold an activity period meeting in the GYM LOBBY on Monday, December 9th

Key Club

Any Key Club member who has not yet picked up their picture day pass needs to see Mrs. Cashing in Room D-12.  You will not be able to be in the club picture without that pass!

STUDENT 2 STUDENT

Connecting Students to Students ~ Come on out and share that Royal Holiday spirit! S2S is hosting its annual Holiday Social on Thursday, December 12 at 2:45 pm in the Commons. Bring holiday treats (food/drinks) to share. If you’d like to participate in the gift exchange, bring a gift $5 or less. Friends, food, fun and gift exchange! Come & connect with other students. Rides must be at school by 4:00 pm.

PG ANIMAL SHELTER

Several students are collecting cat/dog food and pet care items for the Prince George Animal Shelter. All donations can be dropped off in the “Red box” located at the A-wing door in Commons area. Donations will be collected from December 5th until December 13th. Please support this effort to help the Prince George Animal Shelter!

Weekly News Briefs for November 4-8, 2013

Miss PGHS Pageant Takes Place

On Nov. 2, the pageant started at 7:00 PM. Marina Sticklin was crowned Miss PGHS. All proceeds of this event goes to the Senior class.

Ring Dance Draws Near

On Nov. 16, the ceremony starts at 7:00 PM and the dance will end at 11:00 PM. Tickets will be sold for $15.00 in the commons during lunch blocks. Juniors that didn’t buy a class ring can still attend.

Powder Puff Kicks Off

The game will be on Nov. 25, the Mon. before break, at 3:30 PM after school. The tickets will be $3.00 each or students can donate three cans of nonperishable food for a ticket instead.

Weekly News Briefs for October 7-11, 2013

Students Participate in Spirit Week

Spirit Week is Oct. 21-25 and students can participate in this by dressing as the theme of each day and helping decorate their class wall. Each wall will have their own decade. Footage of Spirit Week will be on trnwired.org.

DECA Holds Kickball Tournament

There will be a kickball tournament sponsored by FBLA and DECA on Oct. 30 at 3:00 PM in the gym. Eight to ten people can be on a team and it’s two dollars per person. Players can wear costumes.

Homecoming Dance Nears

The Homecoming Dance will be held on Oct. 26 in the commons. The dance will be from 8:00-11:00 PM. Tickets are being sold in the commons during lunch blocks.

Columbus Day Allows Day Off

On Oct. 14, students have this Monday off from school. Teachers and staff are required to report to school and work on this day.
