On the night of October 25th, 2016, the Prince George field hockey team won against Matoaca 5-0, securing themselves a spot in the Regional Tournament. The Royals record now stands at 16 wins against 2 losses. The team’s player of the year, Georgia Adair, had a lot to say about the team’s success and her new title.

Georgia Adair was named her conference’s player of the year and explained her initial shock at the decision.

“I was pretty surprised and happy. I did not think it was going to be me, so I was very happy.” Adair said.

The player of the year is nominated and chosen by the coaches within the conference.

Adair also believes the team has a lot of wins in their future. The recent success over Deep Run the team has led to a feeling of confidence within the girls.

“It was great because we lost the regional game last year to them. The team wanted this to be the year that we win over them,” Sophomore Kyla Nase said.

“I thought it was really exciting and a great accomplishment for our team. Everyone was really happy about,” said Sophomore Abby Warren.

With the successful path the team has laid is they’re determined for a future path of more wins. The girls hold high expectations for the team in the future.

“I expect us to keep winning. We’re really good at connecting on the field and we are really strong,” said Junior Amanda Grebas.

“I expect big wins and for us just to take one game at a time and to play as team,” Junior Amelia Johnson said.

“We have a lot of confidence. We’re excited for states just to see what we can do.” Senior Cassidy Wilkinson said about their game to states.

The first round of states games is held on November 11th. Come out and support your Lady Royals.
