The sound of country music floats around the room softly. Will Bonnell, a sophomore, is playing his guitar on the bed. Occasionally, he switches to a different song, letting the music flow around him. His concert bass is resting against the wall and he picks it up after he has finished playing his guitar.
While in the sixth grade, Bonnell had an interest of wanting to play a musical instrument and decided to play bass. He found learning how to play easy since his family has musical experience.
Several years later, he started playing guitar and he was hooked. When first playing the guitar, he found that it was similar to playing the bass and so, it was just easy for him to learn.
Bonnell receives lessons from an instructor, whom he plays with sometimes.Taking his teacher’s offer to mind, Bonnell plays in the restaurant with his instructor
occasionally.
“My instructor offered that I could play in a restaurant with him,” Bonnell said.
While he hasn’t created any music of his own, Bonnell does play solo pieces from different songs. The different styles that musicians use interest him greatly and he spends most of his time playing alternative and country solo pieces the study the different styles. Nowadays, Bonnell spends his time balancing the different aspects of his life, such as school work and playing guitar and concert bass.
