Winnie Dunn is Prince George High School’s new EMT teacher. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 17, 1972. She lives in Glen Allen, Virginia.
Dunn has been teaching EMT for four years. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina and earned a BA in Special Ed, Elementary Ed, and a minor in Theatre. She also attended J.S. Reynolds Community College and received her degree in paramedics.
“A friend who knows I love teaching high school EMT classes told me Prince George High School was looking for an instructor,” Dunn said.
Dunn teaches not only two EMT classes at Prince George, but also three EMT classes at King William High School. She also works in the emergency room at MCV, as well as teaching with Hanover Fire EMS.
Dunn loves working with her new students.
“They’re great! They’re wonderfully attentive, curious, and inquisitive during class,” Dunn said.
Dunn enjoys many aspects of her job teaching.
“Sharing my enthusiasm with the students, seeing them growing as providers and getting their stories of success as they run rescue squad calls are what interest me most,” Dunn said.
Dunn’s goal to accomplish by the end of the year is to see all of her students successfully complete the state EMT certification test in May or June.
