Lady Royals guard Kiara Anderson led the girls with 13 points and teammate Haley Hilton added 12 points in a losing effort on the road at Meadowbrook last night. The 36-54 loss to Meadowbrook ended the regular season for the Royals and now they wait to start tournament play next week on the road at Highland Springs.

Although they finished with a respectable 10-10 regular season record, the toughness of the Conference 12 5A South Division sees the Royals most likely as the fifth seed in the tournament. Not having a bye in the first round will be something new for the Lady Royals as they have finished in the top two spots each of the last three years.

The boys basketball team finished their regular season on a high note by holding off the Meadowbrook Monarchs at home by the score of 72-65. The team was lead by Cory Hill who scored 24 points.Asante Turner and Savonte Chappell were also in double figures. This marks their third win in a row and gives them a record of 12-10 to finish the season.

They travel to Meadowbrook next Tuesday night as the fourth seed and will play a first round game against Highland Springs possibly. Even though the Springers are in their conference, the Royals have not faced them this year. The top two teams Bird and Varina will have a first round bye and play the winners of the 4-5 match-up and the 3-6 match-up.
